Which languages do you speak and how did that impact your life?
I speak English,Kiswahili and my mothertongue Kalenjin…
Speaking English has helped intergrate with other nationalities who also speak English.
Kiswahili not only gives a sense of belonging but it is also a way of feeling at home especially when I meet other Swahili speakers outside my country.
As for my mother tongue…it is identity…it reminds me of who I am…the proverbs ,the sayings always remind me of two important people in my life who have crossed over to the other side …my mother and grandmother…
My mother tongue is full of proverbs,wise sayings and parables.
I have tried learning some German,Korean and French…being already multingul it may be easy for my brain to grasp new languages…but i have been lazy. I have not learned beyond greetings…
Each language has had an impact on my life…Internationally,nationaly and familial…
